Hilleplan Bookcase by Robin Day for Hille
The unit ‘D’ glazed bookcase formed part of the modular ‘Hilleplan’ range designed by Robin Day in 1952. This piece is finished in solid Agba - a tropical hardwood with a consistent colouring of golden yellow - and features two adjustable/removable shelves and sliding glass doors, and sits on tapered beech legs.
The glazed door to the left is not the original, and its indented finger pull does not align exactly with the original - although this is only noticeable on close inspection. Other than this, the glass is in perfect condition with no breaks or scratches.
The bookcase itself is in very good condition with its original lacquer finish and maker’s badge evident to the inside.
