Grès de Grand Feu by Brenne, France
Grès de Grand Feu by Brenne, France
An assortment of pieces from French pottery studio, Brenne, dating from the 1960s. Comprising two cups, two side plates/saucers, a soup bowl and lidded pitcher, each piece is finished in a glossy, speckled glaze. A backstamp is evident to the underside of each piece, which includes the words “Grès de Grand Feu” which translates as “High Fire Sandstone” - a reference to the colour of the glaze and possible firing technique. The words “Modèle Déposé”, meaning “Registered Design”, also appear on the underside of the pitcher.
In excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or loss of glaze, although there are anomalies to the finish on a few of the pieces as shown in the images.
